This research examines upcycling in sustainable fashion, exploring how discarded materials are repurposed into unique, marketable garments. Using a qualitative approach, it analyses design strategies, consumer perceptions, and challenges faced by designers. The study finds that upcycling fosters innovation, allowing designers to use sustainable techniques that counter fast fashion's wastefulness. Consumers, especially those valuing environmental responsibility, generally view upcycled fashion positively, though perceptions of quality remain a challenge. Designers face hurdles like unpredictable materials and labor-intensive processes. Despite this, upcycling offers opportunities to create eco-friendly, distinctive fashion for a growing conscious market. Future research should explore scalable upcycling practices for mainstream fashion.
