This manuscript proposes a visual method to improve acid-base calculations in STEM students, indicating effective learning strategies.
One of the more challenging types of calculations that undergraduate STEM majors, including chemistry students face early on in their coursework is that of mastering acid-base chemistry. This manuscript describes a simplified visual method for introducing the basic types of acid (or base) calculations to the struggling STEM student with a weak mathematics background. Sample calculations are included, and limitations are discussed.
