This article presents a modified maxillary sinusotomy technique using the inferior nasal meatus, suggesting effective access when traditional methods are impractical.
Maxillary sinusotomy through the inferior nasal meatus can be used as an isolated pathway into the sinus in situations where access to the maxillary sinus through the middle nasal meatus is impractical or complicated. For example, in cases where the pathological process is localized in the anteroinferior sinus sections. The article presents the author’s modification of maxillary sinusotomy through the inferior nasal meatus, which is based on the formation of a wide mucous flap with its mandatory suture fixation and the use of piezoelectric scalpel for creating a bone window.
