This article demonstrates a satellite geodetic monitoring system to assess permafrost thawing in Chukotka, indicating potential infrastructure risks.
The article addresses the problem of permafrost thawing in the Chukotka Autonomous Okrug and the necessity of establishing a satellite geodetic monitoring system. The natural-climatic and anthropogenic characteristics of the region, current forecasts of permafrost zone development, and potential risks to infrastructure are presented. The comprehensive monitoring system is proposed, based on the integration of various satellite geodetic methods, enabling high-precision control of ground surface deformations, building foundations, industrial facilities, airports, and linear structures. The specifics of equipment installation in permafrost conditions and deployment options for monitoring subsystems are also discussed.
