The project develops an automated API fuzz testing framework to enhance security and reliability in web applications, suggesting better testing protocols.
The project titled “Design and Development of an Automated API Fuzz Testing Framework with GUI Dashboard” focuses on improving the security and reliability of modern web applications by automating API testing. In today’s software systems, RESTful APIs play a crucial role in communication between applications. However, traditional manual testing methods are not sufficient to detect hidden vulnerabilities due to the large variety of possible inputs. To address this issue, this project introduces an automated fuzz testing framework. The system works by generating a wide range of test inputs such as: Random strings Boundary values SQL injection payloads Cross-site scripting (XSS) inputs These inputs are automatically sent to different API endpoints like login, payment, and secure access. The system then analyzes the API responses to detect abnormal behavior, security flaws, or incorrect validations. A key feature of this project is the GUI dashboard, which allows users to: Enter API URLs Run automated tests easily View results in real-time Identify bugs with severity levels (Critical, High, Medium, Low) The framework successfully detects vulnerabilities such as: SQL Injection attacks Missing input validation Improper error handling Overall, this project demonstrates that automated fuzz testing is faster, more efficient, and more reliable than manual testing, making it highly useful for developers, testers, and cybersecurity professionals.
