The work demonstrates the relevance of modernizing traction control systems for mainline locomotives using 1-D modelling software packages for developing modern control algorithms; presents a functional diagram of the traction electric drive of traction rolling stock with a diesel-generator set and direct current traction motors with series excitation, and describes its operating algorithm. A computer model of the electric drive with six traction motors is developed in the SimInTech software package, and the results of its simulation under traction control by regulating the generator voltage are presented and analysed. The simulation results show the adequacy of the developed models and the achievement of the desired values with minimal dynamic and static errors.
