This analysis highlights risks and legislative gaps regarding child rights as digital access increases, suggesting a need for robust protections.
In recent years, Due to the proliferation of smart phones, the availability of inexpensive internet access, and the rise in digital literacy, digital connectedness has rapidly expanded in India. Millions of Indians, especially children, have seen significant improvements in communication, education, and entertainment as a result of this digital revolution. Digital platforms have given kids access to previously unheard-of instructional materials, interactive education, and artistic expression. However, there are serious risks associated with these advantages, particularly in a setting where children frequently have uncontrolled access to the internet and do not have the knowledge or direction necessary to properly navigate the online world. India's rapid embrace of digital technology has overtaken the creation of strong protections, creating particular difficulties in shielding kids from many types of online abuse and exploitation. The Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012 is an important piece of legislation in India that aims to protect children from sexual abuse. However, in this digital age, the law will only be effective if there is a combination of strong legislation, public awareness, institutional readiness, and technical responsibility
