Education has an impact on our society. People individually benefited with education and society benefited through individual. In this paper we talk about the great educational and social reformer of Bengal Pandit Iswar Chandra Vidyasagar who brought the educational opportunity to the girls in the 19th century and helped women to access education for their betterment. For the present study secondary data was used and qualitative research design followed. Finding shows that ODL mode of education enhance the access of education in rural and urban areas of our country as well as in West Bengal state for the betterment and upliftment of the people. In the present Era millions of students are using ODL mode of education. In the 19th century Vidyasagar played the same role what ODL system is doing now. Ishwar Chandra Vidyasagar opened the door of education for the women by established the educational institutions and empowered women.
