Examines olfactory bulb activity in rabbits, revealing contrasting effects of brain stimulation.
The effects of repetitive stimulation of the mesencephalic reticular formation (RF) and the hypothalamus upon the electrical activity of the olfactory bulb were studied in curarized rabbits. RF stimulation suppressed the intrinsic as well as the induced wave. In contrast with this, hypothalamic stimulation had mostly an enhancing effect.
