Experimental study shows effective separation of tellurium and selenium in acidic solutions, indicating a reliable method.
Determinations of tellurium and selenium in hydrochloric acid solution containing perchloric acid by the reduction with sulfur dioxide were studied in detail. Tellurium was completely precipitated in the hydrochloric acid concentration of 2~4N and selenium in a higher concentration than 6N of the acid even in the presence of 5ml of perchloric acid in the total volume of 100ml. Precipitated tellurium and selenium were both dried at 100~105℃ and weighed. From the difference in the range of the acid concentrations of the two elements for the precipitation, the separation of one from the other was made quantitatively.
