This article investigates how single-atom changes improve electroreduction efficiency in alloy nanoclusters, suggesting new avenues for catalysis.
Two isostructural NHC-stabilized alloy nanoclusters Au3Cu and Au3Ag exhibit distinct structural and functional divergences via single-atom substitution (Cu→Ag). This atomic-level modification induces spontaneous dimerization, sharply enhancing single-cluster conductance and CO2 electroreduction efficiency, providing a versatile model for exploring nanoscale structure-property relationships.
