An efficient method synthesizes 2H-chromen-2-one derivatives using Pd-doped catalysts, implying practical applications in organic chemistry.
An efficient method has been described for the synthesis of 2 H ‐chromen‐2‐one derivatives using 1,3‐dicarbonyls and resorcinol substrates. The transformation has been conducted under the influence of recyclable and reusable Pd‐doped rGO‐CuFe 2 O 4 magnetic nanoparticles as catalysts, with a turnover number (TON) of 6917 and a turnover frequency (TOF) of 3458 h −1 . Under the developed reaction conditions, a broad range of substrates was tolerated to obtain the highly functionalized products in yields ranging from 66% to 95%. Moreover, this approach was found to be suitable for the gram‐scale synthesis of 5‐hydroxy‐4‐phenyl‐2 H ‐chromen‐2‐one derivatives without reducing the yields of the desired products. The recyclability and reusability of the catalyst, operational simplicity, and scalability of this protocol transformed it into a unique protocol.
