Abstract Integrating digital tools into higher education has revolutionized research techniques, especially those targeting online databases. For instance, academic databases such as Scopus, Web of Science, JSTOR, PubMed, and Google Scholar provide instant full-text access to peer-reviewed articles, scientific papers, conference proceedings, and research reports. The study intends to identify the impact of online databases on researchers' research output. This highlights the benefits of having the latest information by extending literature scoring and citation uses. This further reflects on being extensively useful in increasing researchers' efficiency in better structuring their methodology, adhering to originality in research writing, ease with proper citations, and support in avoiding citation mistakes. Furthermore, the undersigned will investigate the issues in accessing online databases that limit various researchers against a continuum of enormous information available in online libraries, with their limitation of accessibility due to charges levied on subscriptions by virtual libraries and with the need to have this under CTIPS. The findings have shown a direct relationship between the degree of database use and research quality, indicating its instrumental enhancement to scholarly excellence. Their proper use lies in the critical thinking ability of the user, alongside the use of ethical judgment.
