Does salt substitution reduce systolic blood pressure in rural Chinese populations consuming significant quantities of salt?
Salt substitution is an effective, low-cost strategy for reducing systolic blood pressure in populations with high salt intake.
Salt substitution produced a substantial and sustained systolic blood pressure reduction in this population, and should be actively promoted as a low-cost alternate or adjunct to drug therapy for people consuming significant quantities of salt.
The China Salt Substitute Study Collaborative Group (Mon,) studied this question.
