Do different exercise modalities and training statuses affect prolonged post-exercise hypotension in elderly patients with hypertension?
The optimal exercise modality for inducing post-exercise hypotension in elderly hypertensive patients shifts from continuous to high-intensity interval exercise as they transition from a sedentary to a trained status.
ACE and CE produced greater PEH than HIIE in sedentary elderly hypertensive patients. However, after training, HIIE produced the greater and more sustained PEH. The training status appears to exert significant effects on PEH produced by different exercise modalities.
