Answers are grounded in this paper and cite their sources.
Primary percutaneous coronary intervention is associated with lower mortality compared to fibrinolysis in patients with acute myocardial infarction, supporting its use as the preferred revascularization strategy.
This analysis of 11 429 patients showed a significantly higher mortality rate to be associated with fibrinolysis compared with PPCI in these patients with AMI. Hence, compared with fibrinolysis, PPCI is expected to be the preferred method of revascularization in patients with AMI, especially in PCI-capable centers.
