This paper proposes a charging and discharging scheduling and operation method for electric vehicles (EVs) used for vehicle‐to‐building (V2B) applications in a small business place. To minimize the electricity cost of a business facility, including the cost associated with EV charging while implementing V2B, uncertainties in driving behavior must be managed. This uncertainty can be reduced when employees reserve EV usage in advance for specific time blocks, such as “morning” or “afternoon.” Therefore, in the first step of the proposed method, a day‐ahead scheduling is created based on employees' reservation of EV usage in increments of several hours. However, considering that gaps may arise between the scheduled and actual usage of EVs, the second step of the proposed method performs real‐time operation using simple rule‐based logic for EV charging/discharging based on the actual driving status. A one‐year numerical simulation shows that the proposed method achieves cost savings comparable to the ideal case in which the driving schedule is known with 10‐min accuracy. © 2026 Institute of Electrical Engineers of Japan and Wiley Periodicals LLC.
