This paper reflects on the possible limitations of communicating ocean sustainability themes from island locations. Describing the methods of a visual arts-based communications project that endeavoured to be environmentally sound while raising awareness about ocean sustainability. This paper addresses the perplexing questions raised in the process, including, “Is there a limit to environmentally sound communications from island locations?” The paper addresses this question, identifies others, and includes selected images produced as part of the project to illustrate key points of discussion.
