This article presents a narrow and testable hypothesis concerning lunar impactsof small solid material. If space is not perfectly empty but behaves as a realdynamic environment, then particles traveling through the Galaxy over very longperiods may not permanently preserve their original high speed. Within such aframework, future analyses of lunar microcraters and lunar dust may revealnon-local material whose impact characteristics do not correspond to extremelyhigh velocities.The article does not claim that all lunar impact material is extrasolar. It proposesa narrower possibility: if non-local material is present on the Moon, part of it mayhave been gradually slowed during its long journey through the Galacticenvironment. In that case, it may be possible to identify a mismatch between thenon-local origin of the particles and their relatively limited impact speed. Withinthe Dynamic Cosmic Medium Model (DKMM), such a mismatch could representone of the more straightforward empirically approachable tests of the model.The aim of the text is not to offer a definitive interpretation of lunar impacts, butto formulate a concrete question that may later be compared with new lunar data.
