ABSTRACT We propose a new OLED pixel structure named “Isolated Pixel” for ultrafine pixel arrays that improves color gamut and enhances luminous efficiency by suppressing interpixel leakage currents and improving light‐extraction by introducing self‐aligned light guides. To fabricate this structure, an OLED and a passivation layer are isolated through photolithography and dry etching followed by filling interpixel spaces with a transparent material stack using SiN and a low‐refractive‐index material. No degradation is observed in optical and electrical characteristics after the fabrication of the Isolated Pixel structure. A prototype panel (0.44 in., 4980 ppi, DCI‐P3 95%, maximum luminance of 10,000 cd/m 2 ) demonstrates improved picture quality both with superior color reproducibility and enhanced luminous efficiency.
