Temperature-Governed Synthesis of Unsaturated Esters via a Domino Reaction of Aryl Carboxylic Acids with α, β-Dibromo Esters

A one pot, two steps synthesis of unsaturated esters between aryl carboxylic acids and α, β-dibromo esters is developed. This tandem reaction underwent mild conditions with a broad range of substrates scope (up to 28 examples) in moderate to excellent yields (up to 92% yield). The reaction can be easily scaled up and temperature acts as a decisive switch to control the reaction pathway.
