Microwave‐promoted reaction of 1,3‐disubstituted imidazolium salts with potassium thioacetate or potassium thiocyanate under solvent‐free conditions provided a rapid and efficient synthesis of 1,3‐disubstituted imidazole‐2‐thiones.
