Does CPAP treatment reduce the recurrence of atrial fibrillation in patients with obstructive sleep apnea after cardioversion?
Treating obstructive sleep apnea with CPAP is associated with a reduced risk of atrial fibrillation recurrence following cardioversion.
Patients with untreated OSA have a higher recurrence of AF after cardioversion than patients without a polysomnographic diagnosis of sleep apnea. Appropriate treatment with CPAP in OSA patients is associated with lower recurrence of AF.
