Do abdominal aortic calcium and coronary artery calcium independently predict cardiovascular morbidity and mortality?
Abdominal aortic calcium (AAC) is an independent predictor of CVD mortality and has a stronger association with total mortality than coronary artery calcium (CAC).
AAC and CAC predicted hard coronary heart disease and hard CVD events independent of one another. Only AAC was independently related to CVD mortality, and AAC showed a stronger association than CAC with total mortality.
