Abstract The Falkland Islands are an archipelago just north of the Antarctic Convergence on the Patagonian Shelf, with a rich diversity of seaweeds showing affinities to both Patagonia and the Subantarctic. This paper presents an identification key and detailed illustrated descriptions for the brown algae of the region, based upon a series of recent expeditions by the authors and the available literature.
