Experiments show that chemical treatments enhance growth in neem seeds, suggesting improved cultivation methods.
Seeds of Azadirachta indica collected from matured trees were treated with potassium chloride (KCI), potassium dihydrogen phosphate (KH2PO4), potassium nitrate (KNO3) and diammonium phosphate (DAP) each at two concentrations @ 1.0% and 2.0% for a duration of 24 hours. Seeds soaked in water served as control. Compared to control, soaking in 2% KH2PO4 gave maximum germination, shoot length and number of leaves and 1% KH2PO4 gave maximum root length.
