The fine-structure constant α = e 2/4πϵ0ℏc ≈ 1/137.036 is one of the most pre- cisely measured numbers in physics, yet its origin remains a fundamental mystery. In this work we derive α from rst principles, not as a free parameter, but as a geometric invariant of a viscoelastic vacuum lattice with octahedral symmetry (Oh).
