Research measures growth and functional traits of Coffea canephora seedlings across different altitudes, suggesting environmental influences on adaptation.
Coffea canephora seedlings from three origins (Lula, Kwilu, and Bolondi) were cultivated for one year at three sites at different elevations: Yangambi (450 m a.s.l.), Mambasa (800 m a.s.l.), and Mulungu (1,700 m a.s.l.) in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. We measured eight morphological, growth, and functional traits and four stomatal traits.
