Abstract Damascenone DORICENONE (trade mark applied for by Firmenich ‐cyclocitral is described for this conspicuous constituent of rose oil, which displays a powerful fragrance. The synthesis of four related, more saturated ketones, damascones DORINONE (trade mark applied for by Firmenich & Cie , Geneva). , is also described.
