This chapter places the research analysed in this volume in the context of an academic and policy debate on (creative) knowledge cities and the attraction of knowledge workers. Through a literature review, existing literature on the emergence of resurgent or knowledge cities, the spatial preferences and choices of different groups of knowledge workers and the importance that amenities and other ‘soft’ location factors play therein is summarized.
