The digestive contents of adult males and females of 4 species of Systellognathan stoneflies were studied and analyzed: Perla marginata (Perlidae), Isoperla grammatica and I. nevada (Perlodidae) and Chloroperla nevada (Chloroperlidae). The study was conducted throughout the flight periods of these species in Sierra Nevada (Granada, Southern Iberian Peninsula), to determine possible variations in diet over time. The species of the families Chloroperlidae and Perlodidae fed during the adult stage, and the proportion of the different dietary components changed over the flight period in relation to the availability of such components. The data obtained for P. marginata, based on few specimens, indicated that feeding had little importance during the imaginal life.
