In the Communication (e23687), Roland A. Fischer and co-workers reported the molecular bimetallic cluster Co3Ga2H(GaTMP)9. The compound was obtained by an approach using H2 and Mg to selectively deprotect and capture Ga-TMP metallo-ligands, leading to a kernel-alloyed Co/Ga cluster. The structure of this alloyed cluster mimics a packing motif of the structurally related intermetallic phase Co2Al5. In an attempt to generalize this method, first results towards Fe/Ga clusters were reported.
Napoli et al. (Sat,) studied this question.
