Key Points

  • The study aims to compare the accuracy of imageless robotic and image-based robotic total knee arthroplasties in component alignment.
  • Comparison of two approaches: imageless robotic total knee arthroplasties (RTKAs) versus roentgenographic image-based RTKAs.
  • Evaluation focuses on the accuracy of component alignment due to preoperative imaging.
  • Clinical implications of alignment accuracy were assessed.
  • Preoperative imaging showed a slight improvement in component alignment accuracy in robotic total knee arthroplasties.
  • The difference in accuracy, while small, has potential clinical relevance and warrants further study.

Abstract

Preoperative imaging provides greater component alignment accuracy in ROSA rTKAs. Although the difference is small, its potential clinical impact warrants further investigation. Preoperative imaging should therefore be strongly considered to enhance alignment accuracy in ROSA rTKAs.
