Objective: To assess complications of extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) at tertiary care centers across India.Research question: What are the complications of ECMO at tertiary care centers across India?Materials and methods: Place of study: The study was conducted through a questionnaire sent to various tertiary centers performing ECMO.Study setting: Various tertiary care center doing performing ECMO.Study design: Cross-sectional questionnaire-based observational study.Study population: Patients initiated on ECMO across tertiary care centers in India. Results: Infections and bleeding were the most common complications in pediatric patients on ECMO. Conclusion:The present study reveals that ECMO is being used widely but has a number of complications. There is still a lack of use of standardized prognostication scales for assessing the risk of an individual patient initiated on ECMO.
