RECIRCULATE Standarisation Recomendations for improved battery circularity

Produced in the context of the EU-funded RECIRCULATE project–which aims to extend battery lifespansand transform battery reuse across Europe–this report delves into the complex landscape of policiesand standards influencing battery supply chains, as well as the multifaceted challenges and enablers forbattery supply chain circularity in the EU. Based on an inventory of relevant policies and standards andinterviews with stakeholders spanning the supply chain, it provides recommendations for improved circularity.The remainder of the report is structured as follows. Section 3 details the extensive policyframework governing the battery supply chain in the EU. Section 4 then similarly details the network ofstandards covering the battery supply chain. Section 5 explores insights into challenges and enablers forbuilding circular battery supply chains in the EU. Section 6 concludes with key policy recommendationsto improve battery supply chain circularity in the EU.
