A photographic survey documents the Grunwerg Building and Cambridge Hand Tools in Sheffield, indicating their historical significance.
This report presents the results of a rapid photographic survey at the site of the Grunwerg Building, Rockingham Street and Cambridge Hand Tools, Newcastle Street, Sheffield, South Yorkshire. The survey was intended to document the standing buildings prior to their demolition. The survey comprised both medium format and 35mm colour slide photography and the report contains a summary of the work undertaken, a selection of photographs and photographic registers. The buildings examined doing this survey method were: the Grunwerg building a 1939 (as highlighted by the buildings date stone) workshop previously Duracut, Alan Wasden Limited, Hand Tool Manufacturer and The Cambridge Works (Cambridge Hand Tools Limited) a three storey building, built in the 1950s. A number of extensions to the Cambridge Works have also been noted within this report however a full survey of them was not undertaken. There is no evidence of the incorporation of earlier structural fabric or historic features than those contemporary with the buildings surveyed.
