Archaeological evaluation identifies 18th-century brick wall and medieval foundations in Salisbury.
Two small test pits were excavated in an area currently occupied by 19th/20th-century outbuildings on the north side of the Grade I listed Leadenhall. In test pit 3, a brick wall oriented E-W was found parallel/in line with the end wall of Leadenhall. This is likely to have been a precursor of the existing set of outbuildings. The brickwork suggests an 18th-century date. A possible well of the same or similar age was found in test pit 4, in a small open yard to the north of TP3, along with a stone masonry foundation. This is believed to be of medieval date.
