Case report describes an exceptional instance of primary sarcomatoid carcinoma in a female, indicating poor prognosis.
A BSTRACT Primary sarcomatoid carcinoma of the ureter is an extremely rare and aggressive variant of urothelial carcinoma in clinical practice. Of the limited cases reported, the majority are found in the urinary bladder as opposed to a primary malignancy of the ureter. In the ureter, it accounts for only 0.1 to 0.3% of all urothelial carcinomas, with a male-to-female ratio of 3:1. Primary sarcomatoid urothelial carcinoma of the ureter with heterologous elements carries a poor prognosis. Hence, we are tempted to report one such unusual histological finding in a case of a 70-year-old female with a history of hematuria, flank pain, and weight loss for one year.
