Abstract

Abstract The typification of the Linnaean name Cistus halimifolius (Cistaceae) is revisited. The designation of the nomenclatural type is based on Linnaeus's original elements. A specimen kept in the herbarium LINN (No. 689.22) is designated as the lectotype of the name. In addition, Helianthemum multiflorum and H. rhiphaeum are two names associated with the infraspecific variability of C. halimifolius . Helianthemum multiflorum , published by Dunal in 1847, is treated here under a new combination within the genus Cistus . This name is lectotypified based on a specimen collected by Philipp Salzmann in Tanger (Morocco) and preserved at P. Helianthemum rhiphaeum , the third name included in this study, was previously lectotypified by Soriano in 2008. A new combination is proposed for this name.
