This article examines methodological critiques and comparisons in architecture theory, indicating the need for evaluative symmetry.
This article examines the methodological status of the critique of the fundamental architecture ANAM presented in the text The Modal Discipline of ANAM: a critical–propositional analysis of ANAM (Generative Principle X): A Self-Generating Ontological Foundation, by A. V. Petina, in confrontation with the Theory of Objectivity. It is shown that this critique is constructed in the mode of substantively asymmetrical comparison: the evaluative criterion is extracted from one of the theories under comparison and is then used as a universal measure for the other. Such a move renders the conclusion conditional and shifts the procedure from the domain of inter-theoretical assessment into that of intra-theoretical reclassification. The paper introduces a distinction between architectural and object-level models and formulates a general criterion for the proper comparison of fundamental theories. On this basis, it demonstrates that the attempt to subsume the architecture of ANAM under the Theory of Objectivity rests on a conflation of levels of analysis, the privileging of one conceptual framework, and a corpus base that remains incomplete for review purposes. Particular attention is paid to the fact that the critical text analyzes an early segment of the ANAM corpus, whereas the later corpus already contains a regime layer, a cosmological branch, a physically readable layer, a metric rank, the formulation of testable consequences, and criteria of falsifiability. The main conclusion of the article is as follows: in the works of Cabannas and Silva, two interconnected procedures of reclassifying the ANAM corpus are carried out. In the first article, a subordinating incorporation of the fundamental architecture into the framework of the Theory of Objectivity is performed. In the second article, the critique of the boundary is absorbingly appropriated as an internal resource for strengthening TO itself. Both procedures retain a conditional status, because they rely on a substantively asymmetrical criterion extracted from TO itself and then applied to the ANAM corpus as an object of compatibility. A critique of a fundamental architecture acquires strict scientific status only when the comparative procedure preserves the independence of the criterion, symmetry of application, corpus completeness, and a distinction between the architectural and the object-level planes of description. The present article does not undertake an autonomous reconstruction or full-scale evaluation of the Theory of Objectivity as an independent cosmological program. Its object is narrower and methodological: the comparative procedure employed in the two articles by Cabannas and Silva, the status of the criterion they mobilize, and the legitimacy of the reclassificatory conclusions derived from it.
