Critical-propositional analysis examines compatibility of Petina’s ANAM with the Theory of Objectivity, highlighting methodological contributions.
This article presents a critical-propositional analysis of Alena V. Petina’s Before Distinction? A Logical, Phenomenological, and Architectural Reanalysis of A1–A3 of Theory of Objectivity within ANAM (2025), in dialogue with the foundational, recent, and dialogical bibliography of the Theory of Objectivity (TO). The study examines Petina’s architectural proposal of ANAM as a generative regime of distinguishability and evaluates its compatibility and points of tension with the Seven Axioms of the Theory of Objectivity, especially considering their modal necessity. The article argues that Petina’s critique of the idea of a literal “before distinction” offers an important methodological contribution to TO by preventing naïve temporal or empirical readings of A1–A3. At the same time, it identifies limits in the possible reduction of the first axioms of TO to cognitive or metalinguistic constructions. The analysis proposes that ANAM should be understood as a methodological and metalinguistic clarification of the regime of distinction, not as a replacement for the modal ontology and cosmogenic theorem of the Theory of Objectivity. The discussion is articulated with the phenomenic elements of TO, the Inductive Effects, the cosmological Eras of TO, and the understanding of the transcendent element as knowledge or information produced in atomic relations and equivalent to atomic radiation. The article concludes that Petina’s work offers a highly relevant dialogue with TO, especially in relation to modal discipline, boundary architecture, distinguishability, and the critique of stop-tokens, while requiring careful integration so that the autonomy of the Theory of Objectivity is preserved.
