Multimodal neuroimaging reveals altered brain activity in carpal tunnel syndrome, suggesting significant cortical plasticity changes.
CTS alters both local brain activity and large-scale network topology. Decreased ALFF, ReHo, and FCD were found in somatosensory-related regions. FC analysis revealed disrupted connectivity between SMN and DMN networks. Graph theory showed increased global efficiency and reduced path length in CTS. Findings suggest peripheral entrapment neuropathy alters cortical plasticity.
