Excavation uncovers significant findings in archaeological layers, indicating complex settlement histories.
Open area excavation across parts of two hut circles The excavation at Aultcraggie, Brora, Sutherland has made significant discoveries that may span the late Bronze Age to Iron-Age periods. As yet it is not clear whether the site was occupied from the Bronze Age or during the Iron-Age period or whether the site was abandoned then resettled. The site has the potential to add to the increasing knowledge of settlement patterns in the Bronze Age or Iron-Age periods of north-eastern Scotland. To fully understand the chronology and complexity of the site a programme of post-excavation analysis and specialist appraisal of the artefact and ecofact assemblages is essential.
