Archaeological watching brief documents fragments from trial holes, suggesting historical activity in the area.
In August 2006 ARCUS were commissioned by Severn Trent Water Ltd. to undertake an archaeological watching brief on a programme of trial holes in advance of the Thrussington Flood Alleviation Sewer, Thrussington, Leicestershire (centred on NGR SK 648 158). The brief entailed the monitoring of a series of four hand dug trial holes. During the archaeological monitoring of the trial holes fragments of abraded post medieval pottery, animal bone and 18th century bricks were recovered but no specific features were uncovered. The most interesting trial hole was Trial hole 2 which contained relatively deep deposits and the greatest number of finds.
