The NexusLabs project focuses on the Water-Energy-Food-Ecosystems (WEFE) Nexus. Its goal is to develop a solid understanding of how these resources are connected. The project is being implemented in nine key pilot locations across the Mediterranean and Europe to help stakeholders implement Nature-Based Solutions (NbSs) and adopt scalable innovations to increase the resilience of agricultural systems. This document provides an overview of the pilot sites and details the characteristics of each area. These include information on water sources and usage, agriculture, energy, ecosystems, climate, demographics, and land use. Each pilot site is described in terms of its challenges, innovation demands, technical and organizational infrastructure, and knowledge capacities. Detailed information on the NbSs currently implemented, along with those planned within the project framework, is provided here, serving as a central reference point for further discussion and analysis in subsequent project tasks and work packages. In line with NexusLabs's commitment to addressing the fundamental needs of these territories, stakeholder requirements play a central role in building this knowledge base through all participatory activities conducted in each pilot.
