Wessex Archaeology was appointed by QinetiQ Ltd to carry out an archaeological watching brief on the laying of a new HV cable on Foulness Island, Shoeburyness, Essex. The works comprised the laying of a new HV cable between two existing substations which includes the strimming of a 3m wide easement, followed by the excavation of a new cable trench. No archaeological finds or features were recorded during the watching brief, with natural deposits being encountered throughout the site.
