They are governed by transparency laws in many countries. Political parties around the world receive their party funding through different means like donations from people, corporate funding, foreign donations and state resources in certain countries. Political funding refers to the financial resources used by political parties for campaigning and mobilizing people. Regulation of this party funding is vital for free and fair elections. Political finance has a positive role to play in democracies: it can help strengthen political parties and candidates, and provide opportunities to compete on more equal terms (Falguera, Jones, & Ohman, 2014) 7.
