ABSTRACT Epoxy‐based materials are widely utilized in electrical and electronic equipment due to their favorable insulation and mechanical properties. However, high‐voltage stress and compact design in these apparatuses impose strict requirements for higher dielectric strength. In this work, a novel promising nanofiller, namely, nano‐diodes of molybdenum sulfide (MoS 2 ), was introduced to enhance the electrical properties of epoxy, and five groups of MoS 2 ‐doped epoxy composites with varying concentrations were prepared. A series of electrical insulation properties, including dielectric parameters, breakdown strength, and trap characteristics, were tested. The results indicated that the breakdown strength of the composite with 0.3% MoS 2 increased by 34.93% compared to pure epoxy resin. In addition, the insulation performance of the composite materials showed an initially increasing and then decreasing trend with MoS 2 concentration. The enhancement of insulation properties can be attributed to the charge traps introduced by the MoS 2 fillers. The results proved that the comprehensive performances of EP‐based nanocomposites were effectively improved by MoS 2 nanoparticles, showing great application potential in high‐voltage insulated power equipment.
