Randomized trial demonstrates improved hydrogen evolution in alkaline conditions, indicating potential for renewable energy applications.
Electrocatalytic hydrogen evolution under alkaline conditions offers a sustainable method for producing clean and renewable energy. Highly efficient and low‐cost catalysts are pivotal to the industrial application of this technology. In this work, nanoporous Cr‐doped Co 2 P catalyst prepared by electrochemical dealloying is reported as an efficient electrocatalyst for hydrogen evolution reaction (HER), achieving remarkable catalytic performance with the overpotential of 50 mV at 10 mA cm −2 in alkaline solution, along with impressive stability at a large current density of 500 mA cm −2 . Experimental results reveal that the introduction of Cr alters the electronic state of Co 2 P, which facilitates the water dissociation for generating sufficient active hydrogen. This doping engineering would offer a new perspective for designing efficient HER electrocatalysts.
