Novel method simultaneously eliminates radial-force fluctuations and torque ripple in switched reluctance motors, highlighting significant vibration reduction.
This article presents a novel current-waveform shaping method for simultaneously eliminating radial-force fluctuation and torque ripple in switched reluctance motors. Unlike existing approaches that address these two issues separately, the proposed method unifies both objectives. The proposed current profile not only smooths the torque waveform but also flattens the radial-force sum, leading to a significant reduction in vibration. The proposed method is compared with the conventional square-wave current and with strategies dedicated solely to either vibration reduction or torque ripple minimization. Experimental validation and finite-element analysis are conducted to assess performance in terms of current, torque, radial force, and stator vibration.
